Free Plugin: Percussive Contact

At the beginning of this year (2026) I started another nerdy project: Designing and programming my own audio plugins. As a development platform I use DECENT SAMPLER by David Hilowitz. Let me tell you more about "Percussive Contact" and about my idea behind it.
My first officially released plugin
...is called FLIX DRUMS (there's also a free version available). With that project I learned a lot about the Decent Sampler platform and about designing an interface. To me it's not so much techno-related so I connect it more to my alter-ego "Maxmachtmusik". In the process of creating this plugin (and other unreleased ones) I gained a lot of experience. Working with XML-code is not that hard once you wrap your head around it and there are a lot batch-processing tricks I used in Logic for the over 2000 samples in action. FLIX DRUMS is also a bit nostalgic because the samples were recorded in the studio with my old band. Good old times! This drum-plugin works well in a pop/rock context but this website here is all about techno and guitar. Let me introduce:
π PERCUSSIVE CONTACTΒ π
Percussive Contact is a experiment I wanted to do for a long time. I used a contact mic attached to a (metall) music stand to create a wide range of percussive sounds. I hit it with different drumsticks in different velocities and the plugin let's you blend between those sounds via a fader. Of course every parameter is midi-mappable which makes it an absolute JOY to use for techno sound experimentation. Enough words, let's hear it in action (wait for it, I twist some more knobs halfway through):
Here are some more infos about the plugin:
- 7 individual velocity sensitive hits
- Blend the sounds with a responsive fader
- Envelope for amplifier and (low-pass) filter
- TWO! tweakable delays synched to your DAWs tempo
- A dirty spring-reverb (my own IR) that you can mix in with a satisfying animation
- All parameters are MIDI-mappable!
(You need the free Decent Sampler Plugin for this to work.)
Quick warning: In Logic I had a bug with Decent Sampler. Sometimes the output of the plugin would GO TOTALLY CRAZY. The whole plugin breaks. You can only restart the DAW to reset. This is of course a very unfortunate thing to happen. My workaround for Logic is: Click the "Activate recording" button on the plugin track. This prevents Decent Sampler from crashing, at least for me.
Now, make some music with that thing!Β Drop a comment below if you like it, hate it or have any questions.
