The beginning of something new.

Happy-looking mxmx sitting at desk

To be honest, I've had this feeling for a few years now: Yes, I'm able to produce high-quality "content" (I hate that word), my music production skills are improving and also my work as a musician is growing more and more professional BUTTTTTT ...

WHY AM I DOING THIS? 👀

Who am I adressing? Who cares? Where does my work end up? Will it be relevant today / in a week / month / year / decade? Sounds like a crisis. It kind of is. But not for me personally. It's more like a "too much information-crisis" caused by social media. I'm really doubting that Instagram & Tiktok (the platforms I'm using) and the way artists have to fight for 5-10 seconds of attention is a sustainable way to work and evolve. So why am I doing this? Why am I feeding that machine?

I still don't have good answers to those questions but two days ago I heard about "indie web". A movement (as I understand it) that cultivates niche websites, small communities, open-source tools and meaningful conversations. Sounds like a dream? Well, let's see. So I decided to start this blog. Nice and oldschool. I'm writing and posting about my creative life as an electronic musician. This website will be the outlet of my creative work. Be prepared to find bad english grammar (I'm german but motivated), spelling mistakes (no AI-Bot blogging here) and more or less connected thoughts about being creative and nerding out over music hardware and tools.

My first contact with "the internet"

When I grew up, the internet was this interesting, new and unknown place. (I know I sound old.) When you know the sound of a "Modem" dialing to find a internet connection, you know. Back then you could discover so many cool things. And you still can! Connecting to friends (and the world) was life-changing and I'm really glad it existed. Also having all the information at your fingertips was and is amazing. I learned to play guitar by watching youtube tutorials. So good! Today social media and big tech companies fill the space that once was much more individual, weird and niche. It's not necessarily a bad thing. But for me as an artist it's takes something away:

Control, individuality and fun. I want them back!

My website, this website should be "old internet"-place. You can see and hear my music, there will be free stuff to download, you can get in touch by lowkey commenting my posts. The idea is that people ACTUALLY visit this page instead of seeing a post on instagram. Revolutionary!

That being said: Have fun looking around! If you have any questions or want to get in touch, drop me a comment below. If you enter your mail adress I can reply to you either private or public. Let's do this 👉👈
